Most the wide circulation was received by stamped steel disks. Structurally they consist of the disk (plate) and a rim. Steel disks complete the most part of the cars descending from conveyors all over the world. The secret of such popularity, as always, is trivial and consists in their cheapness and simplicity of manufacturing. But their advantage not only in it: even at very strong blow they don't collapse, and are rumpled that promotes increase of safety of a vehicle. A steel disk, being plastic, it is deformed, taking up a considerable part of energy of blow therefore suspender and steering details receive the minimum damages. The main lack of a steel disk is its rather big weight that negatively affects operational characteristics of the car. For weight reduction it is necessary to reduce a thickness of elements of a wheel that is inadmissible on a condition of preservation of sufficient resistance of deformation (i.e. on a strength condition).
